Thursday

Thursdays were always a great day during the season. All the practices were in the book and all the preparation was complete. Now you just had to sit back and enjoy the moment. If that was possible…..=) As a head coach, I was responsible for the game day Itinerary. First it was a Friday game day progress report that every teacher had to sign that Friday. I wanted to make sure the players were in school. The teacher would give us the players present grade and the teacher could make any behavioral comments as well. This report was very beneficial informing us of any potential eligibility problems. Second it was an itinerary of game day. The players could refer to it and know exactly where they needed to be….precisely! At Lunch it was team meetings….during 6th period a team movie…3:40 Coaches comments…..4 pm Dinner…4:30 Taping and dress…..you get the idea…We’d try to follow the same Itinerary each game…..even away games.

I can tell you over the years we did have some teacher signature forgeries….imagine that….I know…. hard to believe right….I remember a few…..Dr. Spock…Mrs Lassie…Mr Stan Still…..Miss Smellie…..Mr James Bond….even my name was used…..as if I wouldn’t recognize my own signature.
