Tight Bottoms

Hump Day…..gotta love it! I was talking about TE’s when we last visited. I have a couple more blast’s from the past!

We had a big guy that was such a pleasure to coach. Jason Glotzbach was one of the best to ever block down. =) He ended up attending Princeton University and becoming a doctor. He played football, as well as his rigorous studies. His mom, Marie Glotzbach, was the head of the drama dept. at RHS. She was the one who talked me into being in the play, The Man Who Came to Dinner. I mentioned that play in an earlier post. It was my only Oscar nomination! I think I can tell you this….. he has a beautiful Tattoo of a Princeton Tiger….somewhere….=)….They all do….if you’re a Princeton Man.

Vince Walker started for 3 years. His Sophomore year he started against a great Corona Centennial team. We lost that night but he had a tremendous game….scoring 3 TDs.  He went onto become an Air Force pilot.

Probably the most optimistic guy and great leader at TE/OL, was Brock Morris. He had an incredibly great attitude. He was always smiling and his work ethic was tremendous. He went on to play at Cal Poly. In college he was strictly an OL guy…..Maybe wasn’t a great passing threat….except in his own mind. =)

I’ve mentioned this guy before, Jacob Nottingham. He played TE when we needed a big play. He was an all around incredible athlete. He started on defense but he could do it all!

Zack Lindsey was from the same mold. Not as big but he played TE….FB….and RB for me. He was a tough runner after the catch. I can remember the REV game in 2012….Late in the game we needed one more first down to seal the win….He caught a Boot pass and rumbled over a couple REV guys to put us at 3rd and inches(refs screwed us on the mark)…=)….WE got the first down on the next play to put them away. He scored I believe 4 TDs vs Chino Hills in the CIF 1st round game at their place….He ended up at the Air Force Academy!….What a guy!

John Arroyo wasn’t the biggest or fastest guy we ever had at TE….but no one tried harder than John. He was constantly working at his craft. He always wanted to get better…..You loved coaching guys like that!

Matt Brooks on the 06 team was just a blue collar guy. He didn’t get much fan fare on that team because we had so many good athletes. But he just did his job!

Finally Paul Karge, he took a lot of constructive criticism over his career at RHS. But he never backed down and he just kept on battling.

All these guys made The Long Blue Line Proud…..

Talk Soon….Jim
